Snowy night, cliff, wolves. Chen Dehou, a seventy-year-old woodcutter, used a torch to drive away a pack of wolves, wrapped a dying red-feathered giant bird in a torn cotton jacket, and carried it home with gritted teeth. He thought he was only saving one life, but he didn't know that these pair of red feathers would one day spread out - to protect him from the sharpest blade in the world that winter when his own son abandoned him on the sick bed and the cold wind blew through the adobe house. This is a story about kindness, betrayal and nirvana - a man saves a bird's life, and the bird returns a belated spring to man.
