On my first day after transferring schools, the campus belle cornered me in the stairwell.
She sneered. “I heard you got in from a rural middle school. Don’t drag our class down.”
Before I could say a word, a clear, cool male voice came from behind me. “I invited her.”
The campus belle’s face turned deathly pale. Everyone at school knew that the aloof heartthrob who was always ranked first in the year never let anyone touch his things.
Yet he not only carried my backpack, he even handed me a bottle of water with the cap already unscrewed in front of the whole class.
Later, when someone asked him about it, he smiled faintly. “I’ve been pursuing her for three years. Now that she’s finally transferred to my school, shouldn’t I spoil her?”
