The Sweetheart Flirted with the Wrong Guy Online and Got Kissed to Tears by a Daddy-Type Mogul

[Online romance + sweet romance + socially anxious radio editor vs. paternalistic tycoon]

At her friend’s urging, Lu Yaoyue lied about her age and started dating a paternalistic older man.

He came from a wealthy family, had a lovely voice, and was gentle and considerate. His only flaw was being far too controlling.

If she didn’t reply for half an hour, he’d sulk: “Baby, do you not like me anymore?”

Lu Yaoyue had been invisible since she was little.

Her family never favored her, no one at school paid attention to her, and even when people argued, she was never the one anyone chose.

So she loved the feeling of someone keeping her in their thoughts.

Even when he was occasionally possessive and clingy, so obsessive that it made her chest tighten, she could ignore it.

Until the night of her best friend’s birthday, when Lu Yaoyue was invited to dinner at the Fu family home. She looked up, saw the man seated at the far end of the long table, and dropped her melon seeds.

Fu Congyun, her best friend’s older brother.

He wore a finely tailored black suit, his features cool and aloof. He raised his glass with casual indifference, every inch the refined gentleman, untouched by the world’s grime.

Whenever people spoke of him, they said the eldest son of the Fu family was dignified and self-disciplined, a model of propriety.

Only Lu Yaoyue knew the truth.

Just last night, he’d coaxed her over the phone into looking at his abs.

As if that weren’t enough, her best friend leaned close and said, “I heard my brother’s dating someone. Whoever becomes my sister-in-law is so unlucky, stuck sleeping alone every night.”

Lu Yaoyue’s hand shook, and she nearly spilled her water.

The next second, her phone buzzed.

Fu Congyun: “Baby, why is your hand shaking?”

In a panic, Lu Yaoyue blocked him on every platform.

In the dimly lit wine cellar late that night, he bent down to kiss her with elegant restraint, but his eyes were frighteningly unhinged.

Lu Yaoyue couldn’t escape, her voice breaking as she cried out.

Fu Congyun was devoted and obsessive: “Baby, I can let it go when you pretend not to know me in public.”

“But you don’t want me in private either?”
