1930, Shanghai Concession. Shen Mingzhu is a staff member of the "Time Photo" photo studio on Xiafei Road. She uses glass negatives to freeze moments in the glitzy world for her customers every day. One rainy night, a man in a gray suit opened the store door and asked to develop a blood-stained film. From then on, her lens began to capture the gun marks under the city's gorgeous cheongsam, the dark shadows outside the neon lights on the dance floor, and the fog of her own life experience.
