Documentary director Lin Zhidai has spent her life photographing people and things that are about to disappear. She believes that images cannot prevent separation, but they can prove that everything once really existed. When she was in college, she walked into the equipment room carrying a broken old DV and met Jiang Xubai, who was silent and cold and was good at restoring images.
They took old photos of South Station together, rushed to Spring Mountain together, and slowly fell in love with the sound of rain, fog and old footage. But Lin Zhidai already knew that she didn't have much time. In order to prevent Jiang Xubai's life from being trapped in the ward and waiting, she concealed her condition again and again, pushed away her lover, and deleted all requests for help into silence.
Many years later, Lin Zhidai passed away, leaving only a hard drive, a postcard and an unfinished documentary. Jiang Xubai reopened those old materials in the spring of seven years later, only to discover that there were countless versions of herself hidden in her lens, and she finally heard the love buried by the sound of rain, noise and time.
From then on, the sound and dust were silent, and the spring mountains were like black grass and smoke.
He repaired the world she left behind, but he could never repair the spring without her.
