The Vicious Concubine’s Rise to Empress

Be patient and keep reading. This palace-intrigue story is different from the usual ones.

Palace intrigue + strong heroine + political schemes + villainess + childbirth

The daughter of a concubine, with a life as worthless as a blade of grass. On the night her mother died of illness, fifteen-year-old Jiang Yin knelt beside her bed for two hours, staring at the eyes that had never closed, even in death. The old servant who came to prepare the body spat at her. “A lowborn wretch raised by a mistress, and you think you can order the household doctor around?”

The day she entered the Jiang residence, her birth father looked at her not with disgust, but murderous intent. Her legitimate mother punished her by making her copy Buddhist scriptures “to dispel bad luck.” Even when she burned with fever and lost consciousness, Jiang Yin kept writing. She knew that the worse off she seemed, the more people would care. Sure enough, the Grand Madam, who was at odds with her stepmother, sent medicine, along with a glimmer of hope.

To survive, she willingly lay on the ground to serve as a stepping stone for her legitimate elder sister, Jiang Yao. Her sister was spoiled, so Jiang Yin copied her books and did her assignments. Her stepmother wanted her daughter to enter the palace and compete for the emperor’s favor, so she spent a fortune on “Beauty-Sustaining Pills” to enhance her daughter’s looks, not knowing the medicine was also called “Sterility Pills.” Jiang Yin recognized the formula. Rather than expose it, she cleverly altered its effects and personally prepared medicine for her sister for three years

She raised her enemy’s daughter with her own hands into the “perfect imperial favorite,” a woman who would never be able to conceive.
