Deposed on My Coronation Day? I’ll March on the Capital with 300,000 Troops

After three years of war, she used her standing as the daughter of the Grand General Who Guards the Nation and her command of three hundred thousand Black-Armored troops to haul the penniless Seventh Prince, Xiao Jue, all the way to the throne.

On a snowy night before the ancestral tablets, he promised through reddened eyes, “Once I have the realm, I’ll offer it to you as my bride price. You’ll be the only one I love in this life.”

But in the Golden Throne Hall, a eunuch shrilled out the imperial decree: “Shen Jinghong has grown arrogant and unruly on the strength of her military achievements. Her command of the army is to be revoked at once. She is demoted to lady-in-waiting and confined to Changle Palace.”

Amid the uproar, she looked up at the man on the throne, whose former warmth was gone. The old scar over her left eyebrow, left by an arrow she had taken for him, felt cold.

The next second, her black-iron sword flashed from its sheath, and the imperial decree split in two.

“My Shen family’s army built this realm with their lives. You don’t deserve to sit on that throne.”

She fought her way out of the palace with eighteen trusted guards and galloped straight for the military camp beyond the city.

Three days later, all three hundred thousand Black-Armored troops knelt on the training grounds as their commander’s banner snapped in the wind.

With the tiger tally in hand, Shen Jinghong gave the order: “Raise the army. Purge the court of the emperor’s corrupt favorites!”

Later, when the capital fell, Xiao Jue knelt at her feet, kowtowing and begging for mercy, tearfully insisting that he still meant the promises he had made back then.

Clad in silver armor and seated on her horse, she looked down at him with a smile.

“Too late. I’ll take the throne for myself.”
