I, Killer A, Am Relentlessly Pursued by the Homicide Captain

The world’s top assassin, A, fakes her death and retires, posing as an easygoing clerk in an old bookshop. All she wants is to overcook noodles and coast through life. One rainy night, she passes a throat-slashing murder in an alley and casually says a few words, breaking a three-day deadlock in the police investigation. From then on, Criminal Investigation Captain Ji Chenyuan keeps an eye on her. She looks utterly harmless, yet knows how to erase traces, evade surveillance, and precisely recreate a killer’s methods. Even her fighting style is identical to that of the top fugitive he has pursued for three years. He probes her at every turn, laying one trap after another, determined to tear off her disguise. She counters every move and covers her tracks, repeatedly trying to send him away. “Captain Ji, stop chasing me. You’ll never catch me.” Then, during a series of kidnappings, the instant the culprit points a gun at Ji Chenyuan, Shen Yanning steps in front of him and disarms the gun with a fluid move no ordinary person could pull off. With the gun pointed at the culprit’s chest, she looks up at Ji Chenyuan, her expression cool. “I told you to stop chasing me, but you wouldn’t listen. Now you know. Scared?” Ji Chenyuan tightens his grip on the handcuffs, his Adam’s apple bobbing. Scared. Scared he won’t catch her, and even more scared that once he does, he’ll never be able to let her go.
