Hong Kong Crossover: I Am the Rules

Hong Kong Island, 1955. Eighteen-year-old Lei Luo is clubbed over the head on Portland Street. When he wakes, his mind is filled with memories that don't belong to this era: skyscrapers, police academy training, criminal psychology, and the upheavals Hong Kong Island will face over the coming decades. He has no idea where these memories came from, but he knows one thing: they can help him survive, and live better than anyone else. The blow also changes his body. His endurance, strength, reflexes, and ability to recover are all far beyond those of an ordinary person. He helps his maternal uncle seize a pier and catch a mole, earning his first fortune. With that money, he forges academic credentials and joins the Royal Hong Kong Police. Starting as a uniformed patrolman, he befriends veteran detectives, collects protection fees, lays down the rules, brings the triads to heel, and crushes his enemies. The four old-guard triads all fall under the Lei family's protection-fee system, and the three top detectives become his subordinates. From then on, Hong Kong Island has only one voice. International crime syndicates arrive from overseas, giving Lei Luo the chance to extend his reach to the Golden Triangle, San Francisco, Penang, Macau, and even Moscow. In 1966, the ICAC is established. While others tremble at the news, Lei Luo has already made his arrangements. His people get in first, and his people call the shots. He voluntarily resigns as Chief Chinese Detective and retreats from the public eye, pulling strings from behind the scenes. He controls more than just Hong Kong Island: his influence reaches every corner of the world. On the surface, he is a wealthy Hong Kong businessman and philanthropist. In reality, he is still the one who makes the rules in this land.
