Protagonist 1: Du Wen, the shou, was born on April 7, 2002, in Bijie, Guizhou Province. He is 165 centimeters tall and comes from a poor family. Sensitive and living with bipolar disorder, he has been cursed with misfortune by fate. But at 21, he chose to bear all his suffering alone, traveling to a hospital in Hangzhou for treatment. Protagonist 2: Shi Hai, the gong, was born on April 26, 2001, in Fuyang District, Hangzhou. He is 187 centimeters tall and has Shandong roots. When Shi Hai was very young, his parents used their ample savings to move south to Guangzhou and start a business. Supporting Character 1: Shi Haocan, a rich young heir and Shi Hai's cousin. He has designs on Du Wen, a warped sense of values, and was the one who arranged for Shi Hai to cheat.
Supporting Character 2: Shi Linshuang, the last attempt by Shi Hai's parents to change his sexual orientation. A wealthy young woman who doesn't confine herself to romance, she loves the universe and stargazing, and is always ready to take over the family business.
Supporting Character 3: Du Hao, Du Wen's older brother by two years. While helping their father search for a lost phone in a cornfield, he was bitten by a many-banded krait. He could not be saved and died in the summer of 2021.
