Shen Mu, a PhD in materials science, is caught in a laboratory explosion and transmigrates to the Great Qian Dynasty, where he becomes a humble book attendant in the fallen military Su family!
The Great Qian Dynasty has been established for 137 years. It seems peaceful on the surface, but corruption has rotted it to the core. Factions at court battle for power, civil officials are favored over the military, the northern Turks raid and slaughter along the border year after year, western Liang warlords command their own armies, and the southern tribes are poised to rebel. The Imperial Guards routinely draw pay for nonexistent soldiers, border troops have no high-quality steel, and their weapons are falling apart. This vast dynasty is already teetering on the brink of collapse!
The Su family, once a military dynasty that swept across the northern frontier, was framed by civil officials, stripped of its title, and forced to disband its private army. It has fallen from grace entirely. The Su family's three sons are all disappointments, and the family line has declined into obscurity. Shen Mu, a lowly book attendant, is about to be thrown out and left to perish like an insect in these chaotic times!
At the brink of despair, Shen Mu makes a powerful comeback with a complete body of modern science and engineering knowledge, crushing the past with a technological advantage on every front!
He improves metallurgy to mass-produce high-quality steel, refines gunpowder and forges steel cannons, makes cement to build infrastructure and boost farming, and establishes a complete modern military-industrial system! With hard science, he shatters the backward constraints of the ancient dynasty!
The civil officials look down on soldiers? He uses a powerful steel army to root out the court's entrenched ills! Foreign enemies invade one after another? His cannons hold the borders, crush the Turks, bring western Liang to heel, and pacify the southern tribes! The Su family was framed and brought low? He proceeds step by step, clears its name of an old injustice, and restores the military family's glory for generations to come!
From a lowly book attendant everyone could bully, he rises to become a pillar of the nation, commanding the military industry, securing the realm, and striking fear across the land!
He forges sharp weapons with science and engineering, and shapes the fate of the realm with technology! With his own strength, Shen Mu saves a dynasty on the verge of collapse and helps the decaying Great Qian build an age of prosperity that will last for millennia!
