A modern law doctor travels through the Qin Dynasty and possesses Zhang Cang, a law official who outspokenly admonishes the convicted criminal. He is on death row and will be beheaded after three days on death row. Familiar with Qin laws and later legal principles, he used the laws as an edge to uncover loopholes in the case, overturned the death penalty imposed by the imperial court, and found a glimmer of hope in the strict Qin laws.
