In the fourth year of Tianxi’s reign in the Song Dynasty, blades flashed and countless horses whinnied as the female general Wei Piaopiao led her troops in a desperate breakout.
Mo Li unexpectedly transmigrated onto the battlefield and was rescued by a general entrusted with a heavy responsibility.
With fighting growing fierce in the east of Zhao, its troops were tied down elsewhere. The kingdom sent Princess Wei Piaopiao to hold Shacheng and protect its western gateway.
The old city had been ravaged by sand for years. It was crumbling, supplies were scarce, and the people were destitute. The barbarians surrounded it without attacking, certain that Shacheng would not survive the harsh winter.
After transmigrating, Mo Li treated the general’s arrow wound and won her heart. He made several trips back and forth, bringing in large quantities of supplies. He built heated greenhouses, set up a canteen and a school, repaired the barracks, reinforced the city walls, and planted vegetables and fruit. He put his talents to work, ensuring the soldiers and people of Shacheng had plenty to eat and wear.
Later, he also bought a company and produced large quantities of armor and arrows to sell in the ancient world.
But after several trips through time, Mo Li’s strength was utterly spent. He coughed up blood day and night and was near death, so he had no choice but to part from the general and stop returning to the ancient world while he focused on recuperating.
By chance, Mo Li read in a history book that General Wei had been sent to defend the city as part of a power struggle, and that she would be killed on her way back to the capital.
Determined to return to Wei Piaopiao’s side despite the danger, Mo Li went back once more. Along the way, the general taught him martial arts. The two returned to the modern world, where they fought a medieval European nobleman who had transmigrated there long before and taken the alias Yang Shanshan. They defeated him and seized the thirteen Dan Qi he had accumulated.
Once Mo Li had regained his strength, the two returned to the ancient world, foiled the conspiracy, and eliminated both the traitors within and the enemies without. Wei Piaopiao resolutely gave up her claim to the throne and went into seclusion in the mountains with Mo Li.
