Summer Night Passion

[Returning-to-the-countryside series + she has a past, he doesn’t + older woman/younger man + three-year age gap]

[The heroine is rich and doesn’t need to work; no workplace drama]

After divorcing her rich second-generation husband, Fang Shuning returns to her hometown with twelve million yuan.

She has a brother, sister-in-law, and a house in the county seat, but she doesn’t want to live with them. She hires movers to take her belongings to the old house her grandparents left behind in the village.

As luck would have it, Xu Siran, the owner of the moving company, lives right next door.

The house has been empty for years and is terribly dirty, so she messages Xu Siran: [Hello, Xu Siran. Do you know anyone in the village who’d be willing to help clean? I’ll pay.]

Xu Siran replies: [There is.]

So he comes over and cleans it himself, without charging her a cent.

When the faucet breaks, she messages him again: [A Si, the faucet at my place is broken. Could you find someone to fix it for me? I’ll pay.]

Xu Siran fixes it for her without taking any money.

Later, he plants the vegetables in her backyard, assembles the furniture she bought online, and installs the lights…

Fang Shuning feels bad about it and transfers ten thousand yuan to him.

He doesn’t accept it or reply to any of her messages. She doesn’t see him for several days.

When she finally runs into him again, she asks cautiously, “Why didn’t you take my money?”

His gaze burns as he closes in on her step by step. “Because I want something else from you.”

Fang Shuning freezes, then slowly backs away. “I’ve been married before.”

“I know.” Xu Siran takes her hand and looks down into her eyes. “I hope you’ll fall in love one more time this summer.”
