Traveling through the Tang Dynasty and becoming the king of Shu, Li Ke had no ambition to fight for the throne and expand the territory. All he wanted in his life was to protect the territory of Shu and be a leisurely and idle prince.
The court hall was turbulent and treacherous, so he avoided it and turned his attention to managing the people's livelihood in Shu. Introducing potatoes to alleviate the food shortage problem in dry land in mountainous areas, setting up a geological science to educate practical talents from poor families, improving the salt boiling method to produce high-quality refined salt; building water conservancy, opening trade roads, opening tea and horse trade, and pacifying the Nanzhao border with economy and trade, so as to avoid war and gain stability on the border.
From field farming methods to workshop skills, from state and county officials to overseas trade routes, he took pragmatic steps step by step to build Shu into a prosperous paradise with abundant warehouses and prosperous industries. The people live and work in peace and contentment, children from poor families have a way out, there are no war raids in the border areas, and the name of Shu spreads throughout the Tang Dynasty and even Southeast Asia.
Everyone else praised His Royal Highness the King of Shu for his great talent, great strategy, and good governance, but he was the only one who couldn't laugh or cry. What he wanted was never a lasting hegemony and a great reputation in history, but a wife and children around his knees, ordinary fireworks, and seeing the people under his rule live a stable life, he felt that this life was enough.
