Hey, You Dropped Your Umbrella

Their childhoods were split between two cities. The old streets of Jiangzhou offered only brief reunions during summer and winter breaks: familiar, yet distant. Chu Xiaopan and Tang Yuan weren’t childhood sweethearts who spent every day together; they could only see each other during the holidays. After she transferred schools, they reunited in a junior high classroom in Qichuan.

Sharp-tongued, scheming top student × easygoing, absent-minded underachiever. Through three years as classmates, bickering was their daily routine, and quietly having each other’s backs was the norm.

In high school, their lively group of five spent their days together. Then the talented and gentle Su Yi appeared, and the friendship these two had shared for more than a decade slowly began to change.

Failing the entrance exams and losing a loved one, one hardship after another broke Chu Xiaopan. In the downpour, they shared the first kiss of her life. Her umbrella slipped from her hand and fell onto the rain-soaked street. The girl’s eyes red from crying murmured softly, and the emotions she’d kept buried for so long finally burst free. A long-overdue kiss brought years of unspoken feelings to an end.

“Hey, your umbrella fell.”

At her most wretched, lowest moment, thank goodness he was still there, just as he always had been.
