After 00:44 midnight, Jiangcheng Subway will access a "non-existent line map." Each site is a copy of the spooky stories that are spreading in the real city: life-changing in hospitals, roll calls in schools, sacrifices in shopping malls, skinning in theaters, and soul-calling in unfinished buildings. The male protagonist Zhou Jin is a night shift security inspector. He originally just wanted to save money for his sister's medical treatment, but on the last train he saw his sister's name appearing on the "list of passengers who died tonight". In order to save his sister, he forcibly released the banned train and unexpectedly obtained the "temporary station master's authority": he could identify the identity of evil spirits by checking tickets, transfer curses by changing tickets, seize the ability to talk about ghosts by replacing tickets, and lock fragments of evil gods into his own subway station by blocking stations. The core of the story is the rapid upgrade of a small character in the city's strange stories, from saving a car of ordinary people, to being recruited by the anomaly bureau, to taking over the city's night line, and finally discovering that the subway terminal is connected to the countdown to the demise of human civilization.
