A Kalos Journey Starting with Nidoran

On the day everyone else chose their first partners, Ying stood in front of the notice board and read the list three times.

Her name wasn't there.

All she could do was return to the flower shop, change the water for the lilies, trim their stems, and smile at customers as she said, "Thank you," as if nothing had happened.

She thought this was how her life would be from then on: tending the flower shop in Asaka Town, watching others set off, watching them return, watching their names appear on the rankings.

Until she met a Nidoran in the lilies behind the shop, its ears twitching as it peeked out from behind a leaf.

It was alone there, too.

Ying crouched down and held out her hand, palm up.

Nidoran gently bumped its head against her palm.

That night, it thought long and hard.

She moved her favorite pot of lilies to the spot by the window.

Then, the next morning, she locked up the flower shop, slung on her backpack, and said to her mother, "I want to go out and see different flowers and different scenery."

An unchosen girl and an overlooked Pokemon set off together to see the Kalos region.

How far will they get?
