My name is Selaite Si Luolang-Cheng. Selaite Si means sky, and Marina means ocean. My mom and aunt came up with the names, saying that together, we make up the whole universe.
Of course, this “sky” crashed three times after taking off. The Idol System gave me three perfect performances, but the price was that my voice was permanently erased. Now I’m a composer who writes sweet songs. Only sweet ones. Sad songs? What are those? Never heard of them. All right, I lied. They’re all locked away in my sheet music, buried in a corner no one can find.
Until a black-haired guitarist with a blue tail wandered into my world and slipped a cookie into my palm, saying, “It feels like there’s something hidden in the melodies you write.”
My name is Selaite Si Luolang-Cheng. This is the story of how I learned to fly again.
