When he was still at the last minute, he came to this city. He thought it was just an ordinary stop: take a commission, repair a gun, collect enough points and leave. But San Francisco wasn't about to let him go. Steam mechas roar in the streets, and prosthetic modifications make the rich live in ecstasy and make the poor die like mud; underground cults chant spells older than the universe in the theater, and old magic is quietly changing the world; and the city's most dangerous secrets are hidden in the test beds of those mad scientists, and in the shadows that have been watching here since the beginning of the universe. New character cards are constantly unlocked - the nun in gray robe guards the boundary between life and death, the half-length Archmage's fingertips leak out sparks that do not belong to this era, the rock boy whose prosthetic body is changed to contain less than a human body and is no bigger than a banana stands on the street and speaks out... Each one is incompatible with this gloomy city, like a few drops of luminous ink falling into a glass of muddy water. This is a story about steam, cybernetics, the Great Old Ones, and a bastard who goes around causing trouble for everyone.
