A fallen noble gentleman × a simple, gentle, rugged man with brute strength
The younger Chen Anping is a frail nobleman, unable to lift a chicken, sensitive to the cold, and unsuited to hard labor, but he knows how to manage a household and make plans, and is literate and resourceful. The older Kong Shi Yan is a powerful, rugged man skilled at hunting, but he’s taciturn and guileless. They meet when Chen Anping is near death and take shelter in a dilapidated hut in the mountains. Starting from nothing, they clear land, farm, and do business. With no cheat-like advantages, they use their sincerity and their own hands to turn hardship into happiness. There are no awful relatives, melodramatic misunderstandings, or court intrigues, only full meals and the comfort of having each other through every season.
