When he was demoted to the barbaric land of Danzhou, his salary was reduced by half, and he only received four or five stipends a month. He asked his youngest son Su Guo to eat grain and save food with him, so as to live forever.
Su Dongpo spent his whole life in the ups and downs of his official career, but his poetry grew in reverse in this disaster.
