After leaving on their wedding night, Jiang Defu never came back.
When he finally returned, he walked straight in on Zhang Guilan sharing a room with a man. Luckily, Zhang Guilan was quick-witted and had already knocked the man to the ground.
Only after turning on the light did they discover that the lecherous bastard was Second Brother Jiang. Zhang Guilan was furious, but still let him off after Jiang Defu pleaded for him. A gentleman can wait ten years to exact revenge, and she wouldn't let Jiang Defu off so easily either. She was going to join the army!
But before one problem was settled, another arose. She hadn't even joined the army yet when the hooligan she'd scared off earlier tried to set her up. If you show me no mercy, don't expect any from me. Guilan found him a husband, since he loved using rumors to threaten people, she figured he'd enjoy experiencing it himself.
When she arrived at the artillery school, Guilan found it was completely different from back home.
And so Guilan began her studies, determined to earn her certificate first, then climb her way up step by step, with Jiang Defu underfoot.
Ambition gleamed in Zhang Guilan's eyes. "Jiang Defu, you owe me this."
