There's an Evil God in My Lantern

[Twists] [Ensemble Cast] [Character Growth] [No System] [Slow Burn] [Another World] [Cthulhu Mythos] [Apocalyptic Ensemble Cast] [Hardcore Survival]

When flesh becomes truth, knowledge turns poisonous, and the world is swallowed by an indescribable fog, Lu Ran poisons himself into silence to protect the survivors’ camp from memetic contamination. He becomes a humble “Silent Lampbearer.” During an expedition into a high-risk shelter governed by bizarre rules, the camp faces annihilation at the hands of a high-level aberration. Just as Lu Ran’s sanity is about to hit zero, he hears a chewing sound coming from the battered lantern in his hand. It has eaten the cognitive contamination around them and let out a satisfied burp.

“Borrow my power, and the price is your sanity... Wait, why are you getting more alert the more you absorb?” The young Outer God inside the lantern is dumbfounded.

As the Great Old Ones descend and humanity plunges into ultimate madness, a mute man carrying a battered lantern walks into the fog. With every step he takes, the gods retreat one step. “Don’t be afraid. I’m just here to feed my lantern.”
