[No angst, no rivalry between women, light and sweet, mutually faithful, one-on-one]
Zhou Niannian approaches Shen Yi and offers her 200,000 yuan to pretend to be a mysterious overseas investor and start an online relationship with Lu Heng. She promises to get her a supporting actress role after the breakup. Shen Yi agrees so she can raise money for her mother.
Using an account Zhou Niannian provides, Shen Yi starts chatting with Lu Heng. Online, he is gentle and reserved. They talk about movies, art, and their hopes for the future, and unexpectedly find a deep connection. Shen Yi discovers that Lu Heng is sensitive and deeply romantic in private. She begins to waver, but keeps reminding herself that this is just a job.
Three months later, Zhou Niannian urges Shen Yi to break things off and drafts an email demanding a breakup fee. Shen Yi does as she's told and feels both relieved and empty, thinking this absurd arrangement is finally over.
On the set of the variety show Heart-Pounding 100%, Shen Yi is playing a corpse as an extra. Lu Heng is there as a special guest, filming a video message, when he happens to see Shen Yi lying in a coffin. He freezes on the spot. The cameraman, Zhao Xu, quickly catches the moment and turns the camera on Shen Yi.
After filming wraps, Lu Heng walks straight over to Shen Yi. “Hi, I'm Lu Heng. I feel like I've known you for a long time.” Shen Yi is so startled that she pretends to be dead. In front of the whole crew, Lu Heng smiles and says, “She's so cute when she plays dead.”
From then on, Lu Heng pursues Shen Yi relentlessly. He brings her milk tea and flowers, and waits for her to finish work on set. Shen Yi's fellow extras are all stunned, while Lin Yue offers her daily advice on how to avoid Lu Heng.
Zhou Niannian panics and warns Shen Yi not to accept Lu Heng. Shen Yi agonizingly realizes that she really has fallen for him, but she doesn't dare reveal the truth about the fake chats.
