My Supermarket Connects to the Great Ming, and Old Zhu Turns Out to Be My Brother-in-Law

After graduating from college, Ma Yue inherits a fresh-food supermarket. He plans to live a carefree life as a hands-off owner, but who could have guessed that the warehouse door leads straight to the imperial palace of the Ming Dynasty in the fifteenth year of Hongwu?

One night, a burly ancient man, radiating murderous intent, kicks open the supermarket door. Clutching a dying middle-aged beauty in his arms, he sobs uncontrollably: “Immortal! If you save my sister, I’ll give you half my empire!”

With modern first-aid knowledge and fever medicine, Ma Yue manages to drag her back from the brink of death.

He’s just about to call the police and have this lunatic arrested when the beauty wakes up, spots the birthmark on Ma Yue, and bursts into tears: “Little brother! You’re the younger brother I lost all those years ago!”

Ma Yue is dumbfounded. “You’re my sister? Then who’s this rough-looking guy?”

The beauty wipes her tears. “He’s your brother-in-law, the Ming emperor Zhu Yuanzhang.”

From then on, the Ming Dynasty goes completely off the rails.

The decisive Hongwu Emperor skips work every day to come to the modern supermarket, cool off under the air conditioning, and eat spicy snacks. After watching the documentary Ming Dynasty: The Glorious Era, he gets so furious that he goes back that very night and whips Zhu Di. Meanwhile, the civil and military officials kneel outside the time portal, begging their imperial brother-in-law to bestow “immortal treasures” like potatoes and generators.

Ma Yue: “Become a prince of a different surname in the Ming Dynasty? No way! There’s no Wi-Fi or food delivery there. Don’t bother me while I’m gaming!”
