The Dasheng Dynasty is similar to the mid-Ming Dynasty, when commerce was prosperous and the silk industry was an important source of tax revenue for the imperial court. The emperor was only twenty-five years old and was determined to reform, hoping to get rid of the constraints of the Queen Mother and his family.
