In 2048, there was no warning on the day when the black ring appeared, no spaceship, and no aliens appeared. But one early morning, people all over the world saw a line of words in their field of vision at the same time - the civilization scoring system has been activated. No one knows who wrote the prompt, and even the top physicists can't analyze the material of the black ring. It just hangs there, like a huge, silent examiner.
Every month, the Black Ring will randomly release a "copy", which corresponds to a real slice of human history. Each country must send a "representative" into the dungeon - this representative can be a living volunteer, but more importantly, the dungeon allows the summoning of deceased historical figures as assistance. The rules are written very coldly: a 48-hour countdown, if you fail once, a civilizational heritage related to the copy will disappear in reality - it may be that an ancient book suddenly disappears, it may be that an intangible cultural heritage skill is collectively lost, it may be that no one can understand the language of a certain nation overnight. If you fail ten times, civilization will be extinct, which means that this country and this nation will be erased from history and reality. It will not die, but will never exist.
The most despicable thing about this system is that it never says what its purpose is. Is it screening? Is it liquidation? Is it some kind of civilization entrance exam? No one knew it in the early stage, including the protagonist.
