Also known as "The Moon Rises Over the West Tower"
[Cool-headed, resilient general] [Steadfast, devoted protector] [Deeply devoted, restrained emperor]
The Chu Kingdom fell.
On the day Yun Mi presented the imperial seal, she removed her hairpiece before the assembled court. Her long hair fell loose, and the entire hall erupted in shock. The General Yun who had defended Chuzhou for five years and earned the admiration of many Yan soldiers was actually a woman.
Yan Jingyao sat on the dragon throne and calmly spoke amid everyone’s astonishment. “I’ve known all along.”
He had watched her from behind his mask for a long time.
Later, she was thrown into the Flying Eagle Camp, where she met a young man in gray hemp clothes. Leaning against a tree as he whittled a piece of wood, he seemed untouched by the clamor all around him. Yet he watched her with foxlike eyes and asked how long she planned to stay. She replied, “I’ve decided to stay here.”
Later, he climbed down a cliff and leaped into a reservoir. Soaked through, he reached her just in time to catch her before she collapsed.
Later still, Yan Jingyao said to her beneath a tree, “I suppose I’ve kept my promise to you.”
From admiration to affection, from distance to devotion. The sun set in the west and the moon rose, their shadows always side by side.
After her kingdom fell, all she wanted was to protect the people of one small corner of the land. She never expected to become anyone’s beloved white moonlight.
