Night Rule

In the third year of the Great Qin Empire, the Ye Hong case erupted, and the entire family was executed.

An old servant rescued the infant Ye Zheng, who ended up in Yunzhong Commandery on the remote northwestern frontier.

At the age of twelve, he learned two things:

His father had been murdered by Chancellor Ouyang Shanhai.

Justice in this world never simply falls from the sky.

So he lay low for eight years. He studied military strategy, built connections, and tempered his character, until a single “linked-camp strategy” from a minor frontier official startled Xianyang.

On the day his transfer to the Censorate arrived, Ye Zheng set out east.

The only one accompanying him was Xu Yiyi, an orphan girl of unknown origins.

She was the only person he never had to calculate, and the only person he feared dragging into danger.

“If you die, who’ll bury you?”

“Then don’t let me die.”

The case he wanted to investigate was not only his father’s wrongful death. He also wanted to know:

Who was secretly writing the rules of “order” in this vast empire?

Chancellor Ouyang Shanhai held power over the whole court, the three princes each had their own plans,

and Emperor Ying Qian could not tolerate even a grain of sand in his eye.

From Yunzhong Commandery to Xianyang, from the age of twelve to twenty,

an orphan’s revenge would rewrite the order of an entire empire.
