Lone Edge in the Shadows

Peking University prodigy Shen Yan leaves his desk behind to join the revolution. After four years in prison, he settles in Xi'an during the War of Resistance Against Japan and builds a North China intelligence network that reaches deep into Kuomintang territory. When the Beiping radio station is exposed, secret agents launch a massive manhunt. Safe houses fall, and comrades are captured. To preserve the network's core, he must watch his grassroots comrades be abandoned; to rescue them would erase years of careful planning. His faith makes the most correct choice, but his conscience bears the shackles for a lifetime. His great but nameless deeds leave only a lone shadow adrift through history, his merits and faults impossible to judge.
