Great Tang: At Eight, I Get Dad in Trouble. Mother, I’m Innocent!

After transmigrating to the Tang Dynasty, he becomes Li Chengqian, the crown prince, at just eight years old.

Knowing the tragedy that lies ahead in the struggle over succession, he decides to cultivate the image of a delinquent who is a troublemaker, a spendthrift, and a hopeless student, hoping to get himself deposed as soon as possible!

So he shoots a Turkic envoy with a flintlock in the middle of the street. “The Tang Code says children under eight can’t be sentenced to death for murder! Father, I was only testing how rigorous Tang law is!”

He empties the treasury, then publicly auctions off Li Shimin’s underwear and secret stash of money in court. “Mother, Father said he wanted to take this money to Pingkang Ward to listen to music. To protect the dignity of the Tang Dynasty, I had no choice but to put justice before family!”

Li Shimin is so furious he chases him around the palace with the imperial sword, only for Empress Zhangsun to grab him by the ear. “Li Er! What do you think you’re doing to my darling boy?”

Just when Li Chengqian thinks he’s about to be deposed, everything starts spiraling out of control.

The locusts he roasts put an end to a natural disaster. The firearms he invents smash the Turkic forces. His schemes to swindle the great clans leave the Tang treasury overflowing!

Pointing at a map of the world, Li Shimin says through tears, “Good son, conquer the Americas for me, and I’ll abdicate to you right away. Deal?”

Li Chengqian is at a loss: I really only wanted to get deposed!
