This story is adapted from the classic Jigong legend. Arhat who subdued the dragon was reincarnated as Li Xiuyuan. After seeing through the worldly fate, he became a monk in Lingyin Temple and took the Buddhist name Daoji. Jigong seems not to stick to Buddhist details and behaves humorously and freely, but in fact he is compassionate and upright. He walked around the streets and zealously helped the poor, reunited separated fathers and daughters, and healed the sick. He skillfully used his wisdom to punish the deceitful sorcerers and monks with distracting thoughts, and resolved many civil disasters. He adhered to his original intention to do good deeds and accumulate virtue. While he went to alms and repaired ancient temples, he adhered to his mission and devoted himself to spiritual practice. Faced with the troublesome spirits and evil dragons, Jigong always adhered to the right path and stood up.

The plot is a bit old, but it's interesting, not cliche, and not frivolous.
