After dying suddenly from overwork, office worker Su Ling binds to the Zeroing System and transmigrates across worlds to carry out missions. She coolly observes the grudges of the wealthy, adopts a young dragon in a starry wasteland, and navigates life and death amid the espionage of Republican-era China. As a "variable" skirting the edges of the plot, she refuses to become anyone's salvation or side character.
