The owner of the second-hand bookstall is a bald middle-aged man. He is sitting on a recliner and watching short videos. There is a magical laughter coming from his mobile phone.
Ye Chen squatted in front of the stall and browsed for a long time, choosing two second-hand teaching aids, which cost three yuan in total. He took out a crumpled ten-dollar bill, and the boss didn't even look up: "I can't find it, do you have any change?"
"No."
"Then pick another book and collect ten dollars."
Ye Chen glanced around and his eyes fell on a cardboard box in the corner. The words "waste recycling" were printed on the carton, and there was a pile of messy things inside - broken copper coins, yellowed talisman paper, half an inkstone, and a jade pendant the size of a thumb.
The jade pendant was stained with something dark red, like blood that had dried for a long time.
"How much does this cost?" Ye Chen reached out to take it.
The boss glanced at it and said, "That, I don't know where it came from. Take it away to occupy some space."
