Zhao Kongcheng, God-Slayer: Five Years Ago, He Received a Transfer Order

“The headquarters’ top agent, reporting for duty in Cangnan.”

He was greeted by cold stares, a gravestone, and the words, “Captain, we held the line.”

No one welcomed him. No one forgave him.

With a cigarette between his lips, he crouched in the rain and said nothing in his defense.

Five years. He’d risked his life for three vials of the original serum, seventeen shipments of supplies, and an order that kept him away for three years.

He hadn’t come back to prove he was right.

He’d come back to protect this city, these people, and the everyday warmth of human life.

The warmth of everyday life forged my unyielding blade.
