Song Yunchuan, a student at Qingzhou Agricultural University, returned to his village for summer vacation and discovered that the ruined temple behind the mountain was haunted.
A System suddenly appeared before him: “You are now bound to the Heavenly Dao Poverty Alleviation System. Please help an S-rank poverty-stricken target: Taotie. Help him escape poverty, and once he regains his divine power, you’ll receive a reward.”
Song Yunchuan looked at the ancient ferocious beast, so hungry it was chewing on dirt, and handed him a hoe. “Know how to farm?”
Taotie roared in fury. “I once devoured heaven and earth!”
Song Yunchuan replied, “So that’s a no. Come on, I’ll teach you.”
From then on, the once world-destroying beast began digging fields, spreading fertilizer, and putting up greenhouses.
After being rescued from a drought-stricken pool, Hanba was put in charge of researching drought-resistant crops.
Leigong was repairing appliances in town when Song Yunchuan recruited him to install smart irrigation at the farm.
When a mysterious superpower organization came knocking, they saw all the “employees” look up as one.
Their leader, Taotie, wiped away his sweat. “Boss, are we getting a late-night snack if we work overtime today?”
Song Yunchuan turned to the organization’s representative with a smile. “Don’t be afraid. They’re all excellent employees now. Would you like to apply too? Food and lodging included, plus full social insurance and housing fund.”
