The story begins with Fang Jianli waking up inside a morgue drawer in a hospital.
She discovers that she has taken over a body that isn't her own: a 24-year-old woman who died of intracranial bleeding after a blow to the back of the head.
She has only a vague sense of who she is, but the traces left on the body tell her that its original owner was also named Fang Jianli.
