The Whole Internet Wants Me Kicked Out of Training Camp, So I’ll Kick My Way to the World Stage

When Luo Che is suddenly recruited into the Beilan World Championship training camp, he is nothing more than a practice forward.

He has to imitate the group-stage opponents, serve as a target for the starting center-backs, act as a punching bag for the backup forwards, and provide the coaching staff with one training video after another. On the eve of the roster announcement, an overseas clip of him being knocked over goes viral. The comments have only one thing to say: Get out of the training camp.

But after every failure, Luo Che can see exactly where his movements went wrong. His first step was 0.3 seconds too slow. His planted foot was off by half a palm. His first touch was a fist too far from his body. His ankle went slack half a beat too soon when he shot.

Others see him getting knocked over.

He sees how he needs to stand up next time.

From making runs to get open and holding off defenders with his back to goal, to shielding and passing the ball, striking low shots, battling his teammates, and playing in closed-door warm-up matches, he gradually forces a crack into the starting lineup. Everyone thinks he's just a temporary target, until, before World Championship registration closes, the coaching staff offers him the final spot in the forward line.
