A newly born System hadn't received any training yet. On its way to the space-time bureau's training program, it was hit by a rogue System.
The little System didn't get an apology. Instead, it heard: “Special-star mission posted. Congratulations, System No. 4308.”
The little System didn't understand what was going on, but its System-scientist parents did. They had hurried over to deliver its training data.
“Oh no! We thought we were so unlucky that we applied to create a new System child by copying data. How could our child be even unluckier than us?”
No amount of sobbing could change the fact that a System with no training was about to begin the special-star mission that terrified every gold-tier System at the space-time bureau.
The little System was thrown, bewildered, into the mission pool. Among countless worlds, it chose Earth and bonded with someone who seemed both deeply ambitious and pitiful.
At first, the little System thought they were both poor things. It never expected its Host to be a master of secret identities. She'd simply happened to draw the pitiful persona that time. In truth, she wasn't pitiful at all.
Now that they were bonded, there was no way to undo it. They could only grit their teeth and make the best of things together!
