Back to 1976: Taking Revenge on My Family and Hunting Deep in the Mountains

Chen Ye opened his eyes and found himself back on the night in 1976 when heavy snow had sealed off the mountains.

Outside, his biased parents were plotting with his older brother to get him drunk and force him to sign a confession, so he would take the blame and face the firing squad in his brother’s place! Worse, they planned to sell Chen Ye’s fiancée, a fallen young lady, to an old bachelor, and drive out the pretty widow who had saved his life, leaving her to freeze to death, all so they could seize her house!

In his previous life, Chen Ye died miserably in a labor camp, while his wife and sister-in-law died too.

Reborn into this life, Chen Ye grabbed a wood-splitting axe! You want me to take the blame and let you inherit everything? I’ll send your whole family to the firing squad first!

He struck back that very night, hid the stolen money under his brother’s bed, and sent off an urgent tip. At dawn, the whole family was in handcuffs and on their way to hard labor in the Northwest!

With the savings seized from their home, Chen Ye took the cool, stunning young lady by the hand, shielded the gentle, hardworking widow with his other arm, and headed into the primeval forests of the Greater Khingan Mountains with his hunting dog.

Supplies were scarce everywhere else, and other people didn’t even have tree bark to chew on.

But in Chen Ye’s mountain cabin, the heated brick bed was blazing hot. The young lady, dressed in a roe-deer fur coat, worked out the accounts for him, while the gentle widow served steaming bowls of long-tailed pheasant soup. Chen Ye carried his rifle and hunted wild boars, fought blind bears, and dug up wild ginseng. His life was more comfortable than a god’s!

His awful relatives were all green with envy, kneeling in the snow and begging him for a scrap of meat.

Chen Ye sneered. “Get lost. I wouldn’t give any to a dog!”
