Futures Market Chronicles: From Debt to a Fortune of Over 100 Million

Buying the dip with everything, doubling down against the trend, and borrowing to increase his positions: in six months, Lin Yan turned 50,000 in starting capital into 320,000 in debt.

His girlfriend of many years packed her bags and walked away. The shattered screen of his phone reflected a portfolio of nothing but losses, while the traffic and neon lights on the overpass bore witness to his rock-bottom fall.

With nowhere left to turn, he crossed paths with Lao Zhou, a reclusive veteran trader, and from then on gave up his fantasies and devoted himself to learning.

He deleted MACD and KDJ, judging trends using nothing but naked candlestick charts. He strictly limited each trade's loss to 1% and never got greedy over short-term paper profits.

He outclassed arrogant academic prodigies, found a kindred spirit in a top female trader, and saw through the dreams of countless retail investors hoping to get rich overnight.

After weathering the long bull market in copper and the epic geopolitical swings in oil, his account grew from zero to over a hundred million.

Everyone wants to chase profits through the market. Lin Yan alone learned to stop, wait, and cut his losses.

Trading has its seasons, and when all is said and done, beyond winning and losing, the hardest thing is keeping one's restless heart steady.
