The Banquet

I am a normal person.

Biologically speaking, yes. Philosophically speaking, too. That is, until I saw a line of text appear on my retina:

[Congratulations, you have become a member of the Banquet]

They say this is a banquet. Every city has its own banquet. Every honored guest has an assigned role.

My role is: thief.

The rules are simple: steal the most precious treasure at the banquet, go unnoticed, and leave alive.

But I soon discover that at this banquet, the “people” are the ones who aren't normal.

The servers smile behind weeping masks, the enforcers weave traps out of desire, and the host's rules change every day. And the treasure I'm supposed to steal may not be a “thing” at all.

Tonight, it has been raining in Xucheng for three days and three nights.

The banquet has begun. Wish me luck: may I leave alive.
