After the black rain, a new calamity appeared in the world: dream disasters.
Born from people’s fears, obsessions, and regrets, they drag nightmares into reality and reality into a deep slumber.
Chen Jin was a low-level temp at the Dream Disaster Response Bureau, responsible only for clearing away belongings and sealing off crime scenes. Then, during a low-risk dream disaster, he saw a prompt that should not have existed:
Dreams have weaknesses, too.
The Dead Return Home, the Black Rain Files, the City Without a Moon, the Old Bureau’s Gates, Thousands Sharing One Dream... Every nightmare had a crack in it when he looked.
But as he ventured deeper and deeper into the dream, he discovered that the black rain from three years ago had never ended.
His missing father was trapped beyond the Gate of Awakening; the nonexistent moon was searching for its first dream.
And the voice hidden at the end of countless nightmares called him
The child who is awake.
