Shen He is the little tyrant of An Nan. She skips school by climbing walls, beats people up, and collects protection money. Everyone calls her “Little Menace”, until she brings home a frail scholar who looks as though a gust of wind could knock him over.
The scholar is delicate and sickly, needing to lean against a wall after just two coughs. Yet he knows how to tie her boots into neat bows, washes the mud off the shoes she loses while climbing walls, quietly stays by her side while she counts her silver, and even picks up the half-tael she drops at the mouth of an alley.
People say he’s a clean freak who likes men and is cold to everyone. But with her, he peels chestnuts, feeds her medicine, and clutches her handkerchief when his chilling poison flares up, refusing to let go.
Shen He: “…Why are you only nice to me when you’re sick?”
He chuckles softly. “My lady, this illness only recognizes you.”
One wave comes after another, and I can't stop watching.
I really like the pairing of Shen He and Xiao Qingyuan. It's so exciting and worth recommending. I look forward to the opening of the capital chapter.
