My Ex Still Hasn't Asked for a Commitment Today

Chasing the One Who Got Away, Rekindling an Old Flame, and at Heart a Sweet Little Romance

A resentful lover × avoidant attachment

Ren Zhuoqing ended things with Shi Song cleanly and decisively.

The future was too far away. If she couldn’t make any promises, she shouldn’t give him hope. Behind the lies were wounds made by shards of broken glass. Let’s fall in love one more time.

The woman’s warmth pierced his slightly cool skin and branded itself directly into his nerves. They were so close that her breath brushed his nose, carrying her fresh, clean scent with it.

Ren Zhuoqing really thought he might have a fever. Feeling playful, she asked, “Are you really willing to be the other woman? What if, and I mean what if, I actually fall for someone else one day? What would you do?”

If she fell for someone else.

He would lock her up.

Shi Song didn’t move away. The man even lifted his chin slightly, drawing closer to her.

Shi Song indulged in the hypothetical. “If that day really comes, I won’t be able to stop you.”

Now that the words were out, he would never take them back.

His Adam’s apple bobbed with difficulty. He swallowed the bitter, metallic taste and gritted his teeth. “Even if you let him move in, I can still take care of both of you.”

“But.” Shi Song gazed steadily at her, his pupils roiling with obsession and darkness. “You’d better keep him hidden.”

“Don’t bring him in front of me, and don’t let me see the two of you being intimate. I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle it, and I’ll do something that makes you hate me.”
