Beneath the neon lights of a bustling city lie countless eerie cases that science cannot explain. Weeping from an abandoned mansion at midnight, a phantom wandering an old hospital, forbidden customs in a remote mountain village... The police are at a loss in the face of a mountain of unsolved cases, while sinister spirits stir in the shadows.
Lu Yan was born with unusual eyes that can see through the disguises of evil spirits and read the memories lingering in the dead. As an external investigator for the Special Cases Investigation Unit, he travels far and wide, solving one bizarre supernatural murder case after another and helping the wrongfully dead find peace.
But as his investigation deepens, he discovers that every case points to the same mysterious organization. They sacrifice the living and collect resentment to craft dark magic, secretly throwing the balance between yin and yang into chaos.
As the truth gradually comes to light, Lu Yan is shocked to realize that his innate immunity to ghosts and gods is no coincidence. It is part of a carefully planned scheme twenty years in the making.
