In Huangnigou, Tian Qiaoyun was a widow at the age of twenty-two, without a son or a supporter. She spent food stamps, cloth stamps and silver bracelets to bring a boy, named Tian Yougen, just so that someone would bring him water when he was old. When she was young, she guarded the border at the door. In her middle age, she kept account books in the fields. In her later years, she found that the roots she had raised had penetrated into the city. When she opened the old account, the village discovered that no one really wanted the truth, everyone just wanted to grab the status.
