A bibliography of rare books compiled by Qian Zeng, a bibliophile in Changshu during the Qing Dynasty.
Qian Zeng inherited the book collection of his ancestor Qian Qianyi and obtained the remaining secret books of the Burning in Jiangyun Tower. He selected the fine old engravings from the Song and Yuan Dynasties collected in his family to compile this book, which was originally titled "Inscriptions on the Catalog of the Shugutang Collection".
The book consists of four volumes, classified according to the four parts of classics and history, and records 634 ancient books, detailing the volume, author and version characteristics of the books.
The book focuses on edition identification and determines the age of engraving and printing through characteristics such as layout, line style, and font. It pioneers the system of recording rare books in the form of inscriptions and postscripts. It is the first bibliography and edition study monograph of rare books in the Qing Dynasty with solutions.
