A Delicate Southern Girl, Caught in the Clutches of a Rugged Northeastern Man

At nineteen, Ruan Mian was hastily entrusted to strangers by her parents and sent a thousand miles away to marry into a village in Northeast China.

Her husband was young, ill, and disabled, with both legs gone and unable to care for himself in bed.

The Zhang family relied on three women to keep it going.

Her mother-in-law, her flirtatious sister-in-law, and her.

In August, in a makeshift hut in the cornfield, she had a nightmare and fell into a river.

Her face and hands were covered in water. Only when she woke did she realize it wasn’t river water.

It was a man’s sweat...

Who was that man??
